Manager of Technical Services and Collection Development, Springfield City Library (Springfield)

Springfield City Library has an exciting leadership opportunity waiting for just the right candidate. Are you the one? Each year, we welcome over 600,000 visitors throughout our nine locations and offer more than 5,500 programs for adults, teens and children. Our 77,672 registered patrons account for circulation of nearly 600,000 items!

The new Manager of Technical Services and Collection Development will be based at our Central Library and oversee the work of cataloging and acquisitions workers as well as manage our significant collections budget, including endowments and trusts, of approximately $750,000. Qualifications

Candidates should have an ALA-accredited MLS and experience in a library setting, including cataloging and/or collection development. Experience supervising staff and managing the work of a team are important. Excellent customer service orientation is needed, and a "turned outward" approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese or other community language). The City of Springfield has a residency requirement and allows new hires up to a year to establish residency.
