Library Media Specialist, Salisbury Elementary School (Salisbury)
Salisbury Elementary School seeks a passionate and organized Library Media Specialist teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Library and Media classes to students in all grade levels (PK-6). The Library Media Specialist facilitates learning opportunities that enable students at all developmental levels to be enthusiastic readers, critical thinkers, skillful researchers, effective technology users, and responsible digital citizens. The successful candidate will have a strong background in children's and young adult literature.
Responsibilities:
1. Teach all students in grades PK-6 a weekly Library Media specials class.
2. Instill in all students a lifelong love of learning and ensure equitable access to information.
3. Collaborate with classroom teachers as a partner in the instructional process.
4. Perform technical and clerical duties related to the circulation, reference, cataloging, and record-keeping within the school library.
5. Assist students, staff, and others in locating and utilizing print, digital, and technological resources.
6. Maintain an orderly, organized, welcoming facility that helps all students become independent users of the library.
7. Serve as a resource person regarding the use of technology and library materials.
8. Evaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.
9. Develop and maintain resources appropriate to the school and district curriculum, the students, and the instructional strategies and approaches of the school community.
Qualifications
MA State certification for Library.
At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
Master degree preferred.
