Part-Time Reference Librarian, Goodnow Library (Sudbury)

The Goodnow Library is seeking an enthusiastic, part-time (10 hours per week, including alternate Sundays) Reference Librarian with the interest and ability to translate the needs and interests of the community into effective library services and programs.

Essential Functions:

Under the supervision of the Head of Reference Services, the Reference Librarian will be responsible for the following:

- Assisting patrons in accessing library resources in multiple formats

- Responding to reference, research/homework and readers' advisory requests

- Assisting with creating displays and booklists to showcase library collections

- Serving as a Passport Acceptance Agent

- Performing similar or related work as required

Qualifications

ALA accredited MLS degree; at least one-year public library experience is preferred.  Students currently enrolled in MLS program will be considered.

- Knowledge of and experience with library materials, services and programs

- Dedication to providing quality customer service

- Highly collaborative team player as well as a strong individual contributor

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment

- Knowledge of standard technologies, online resources and office software

- Ability to learn and apply latest trends in technology and library services

Compensation:

$26.35  / hour

Position classified as Grade 6 of Town of Sudbury FY2025 classification plan.  Starting pay will begin at Step 1; $26.35 per hour.  Payment will be received on a bi-weekly basis.  Eligibility for yearly step increases will be reviewed one year from hire date.  Cost of living increases may apply.  This position is not benefit eligible.
