Library Assistant – Children’s, MG Parker Memorial Library (Dracut)
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Children’s Librarian, the Library Assistant provides exemplary customer service to families, children, caregivers, and other users of the Children’s Room and its resources. The Library Assistant also assists in the planning and hosting of programs for its intended audience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist children, parents, and teachers in finding suitable reading material for the child's age, abilities, and tastes.
Plan, conduct, and assist with programming for children, including but not limited to, story times, crafts programs, summer reading programs, summer activities
Assist children through grade 6 and parents in finding both print and electronic information.
Assist children and parents in computer usage.
Process requests for patrons for materials not available in Dracut.
Supervise computer use by children.
Monitor behavior of children to ensure the safety and rights of patrons when in the Children's Room.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Minimum of an Associates’ Degree; two years of library experience or customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience with children in library, school, or similar environment preferred.
