Children’s Librarian, BiblioTemps (Bacon Free Library) (Natick)
BiblioTemps® is an employment service of the Massachusetts Library System that provides experienced library workers for temporary placements in public, academic, and special libraries throughout Massachusetts.

Schedule: Friday 9:30am – 1:30pm; Additional hours if needed if possible
Pay Rate: $20.75 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience

Description:
Do you enjoy working with children? The Bacon Free Library offers over 200 children’s programs annually on its beautiful grounds and in its historic building. The Library has a staff of 6 PT employees and a FT director and is open 45 hours per week.
As Head of Children’s Services, the ideal candidate will evaluate, select and maintain library materials for children which reflect a variety of diversified cultural and educational interests with an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion. They will partner with Morse Institute Library staff to develop, provide and promote children’s programs and services to the Natick community. They will also provide community outreach services and serve as liaison for community organizations, town departments, and local businesses who work with or provide services to children of all ages.
In addition, they will oversee all public relations, promotional and publicity efforts for all media outlets for children’s library services through press releases, outreach services, website, social media, printed brochures and fliers.
Qualifications
Requirements:
The candidate will demonstrate a working knowledge of contemporary issues, trends, and technology in the library profession and will be expected to perform circulation duties such as patron registration, checking books in and out, and placing reserves as well as assisting patrons with problems on computers, printers and devices.
· A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program is preferred.
· Two years of supervisory experience in children’s services, including book selection and programming is strongly recommended.
· Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.
