Children's Services Librarian, Joshua Hyde Public Library (Sturbridge)
Joshua Hyde Public Library in Sturbridge is looking for a Children's Services Librarian – someone who is dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic with crazy good communication skills and a knack for making patrons of all ages feel welcome and included - to join our library team full time.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to: Providing and planning programs and services to children and young adults to meet the changing needs of the community; Reader's advisory services; Use of online resources; Preparing and presenting outreach programs at daycare centers and preschools; Working closely with home schooling families and public schools to provide materials and programs to support the school frameworks; Selecting, developing, and maintaining the children's collection; Directly supervising Library Assistants and Pages in the Children's Department.
This 36 hour/week position requires one evening per week and occasional weekends, as needed, to accommodate programming.
Qualifications
MLS/MLIS with a minimum of two years experience specifically in children's library services; or four to ten years related experience and/or training. Supervisory experience preferred. A valid driver's license required.
